In this section we start with the basics. What are coordinates. What is Latitude and Longitude. We find that Latitude is measured in degrees north or south of the Equator and that Longitude is measured east or west, a maximum of 180 degrees from the Prime (or Greenwich) Meridian. Then we move on to the two basic types of chart, Mercator and Gnomonic. Which will you need? What information will you find on them. |
