It’s the sort of thing that happens all the time - not just to the newcomer to boating but to some who’ve been ‘at it’ for years!

“Oh! - don’t worry - I know every nook and cranny of this coast!”  -  they say,  “Just tell me where you want to go - I’ll get you there!”

That’s fine but what happens one day when, as Murphy’s Law says it will, something goes wrong - maybe something as simple as the weather really closing in - they’re like a short dog in a cornfield! - All their landmarks have disappeared!

Then there’s the GPS fan!  -  “I don’t need to be able to navigate, - I’ve got GPS!

WRONG! - If you can’t plot the courses and positions it gives you, it’s not really a lot of use!

GPS is brilliant but, like most other technology, it’s just a tool.  If there’s a large lump of land or rock between two waypoints you’ve programmed in - it doesn’t know about it - and, GPS can’t immediately take account of a changing wind or tide!

There’s a feeling of confidence that you get when on board a vessel with a good skipper - you just know he or she is in control, whatever the situation.  A large part of that is the ability to navigate, which is where this programme comes in.  You’ll find it easy to follow because it is based on courses I have successfully conducted for many years.

I have purposely omitted a lot of rhetoric and history - you can get that from books if you really want. You’ll find technical jargon only where it is absolutely necessary - concentrating on the facts only, - explained in a simple, easy-to-follow language backed up with loads of illustrations, animations, videos, step-by-step- guides and complete with exercises at the end of each section plus our unique self-testing system that automatically keeps track of your progress - see if you would pass that exam.

Look for this symbol!  -  You’ll fing loads of hints and tips gathered from a life-time  at sea .  There’s no reason why, by the end of this programme, you can’t be a capable coastal navigator! Each section follows on from its predecessor, so make sure you understand each section before you start the next.

You don’t need a degree in Higher Mathematics - You don’t need to be any sort of scientist!  What you DO need is the desire to learn to navigate and the dedication to see it through!

You owe it to yourself, your crew AND your passengers!    GO  FOR  IT!
